Activities Nearby The
sandy Beach on the Gulf of Mexico is just one block away. Beach chairs
and umbrellas are normally available to rent for a small fee. Or, bring
your beach towel and sit on the sand.The beach is free.
The Seawall, a block away, topped by a wide promenade, runs for several miles above the beach, and is a favorite place to walk, jog, rollerblade, and bicycle. Usually there are pedal-powered surrys for rent as well.
Moody Gardens, Rainforest Pyramid, Aquarium - 2.5 miles away, about 6 minutes to drive. Butterflys fly free in the rainforest, the Aquarium is one world's largest, with 1.5 million gallons of water.

Street Fishing Pier was also a block away. Now only in our dreams can we fish in the Gulf from here. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ike washed away our beloved 61st street pier in September 2008... but rebuilding plans are underway.
Strand
Historical District - 4 miles away, about a 10 minute drive.
Host to fabulous Mardi Gras in February, and Dickens on the Strand festivities
in December, and full of interesting landmark historical buildings and
great restaurants year around.
